BANDRA CENTRE
The centre at Bandra, now in its second year, is located at Maharashtra Nagar, an area pre-dominantly populated by
migrants from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. The chief programmes at the centre are the balwadi programme, which sixty children attend, and tuition classes for school-going children (fifteen of them). Meetings with parents are held monthly on topics related to health and social issues.
Picnic: In January, the children were taken on a picnic to the Taraporewala Aquarium and the Malabar Hill Hanging Gardens. Forty-five children came forthe trip.
Rangoli competition: Thirty women participated in a rangoli competition conducted on the 10th November, the eve of Diwali. Prizes were awarded to the winners.
Cooking Competition: On the eve of Nutrition Week, 13th November, a cooking competition was conducted at which women prepared low-cost nutritious dishes.
Children's Day: On the 14th November, children celebrated Children's Day by participating in a Fancy Dress Competition. The colourful costumes were a special attraction.
Christmas Celebration: On the 18th December, the centre celebrated Christmas. Children came dressed in colourful garments and participated in various cultural events.
